FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

No, you don't need a referral, unless you wish to claim medicare rebates. We are happy to work with self-referred clients.

If you do wish to access rebates through the Better Access to Mental Health Scheme or under an Eating Disorder Plan you will need to see either a GP or Psychiatrist for a referral prior to any sessions you wish to claim.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

This will vary depending upon your reason for seeking therapy. Some clients will benefit from a short-course of structured skills-focused interventions, whilst others will require longer-term support.

On average, most clients will require at least 6-15 sessions to see improvements, however, this can vary substantially. Some clients may feel 6 sessions is enough, whilst other clients may attend regular sessions for many years.

DO YOU PROVIDE SERVICES TO WORKCOVER OR NDIS CLIENTS? AND DO YOU PROVIDE INSURANCE OR COURT REPORTS?

Unfortunately, at the present time, we do not accept any Workcover, or other third party payments. If you are a self-managed NDIS client we may still be able to assist!

We do not provide any court reports, insurance reports, or any other assessments or reports intended for 3rd party use.

WILL WHAT I DISCUSS REMAIN CONFIDENTIAL?

In general, absolutely! We understand many people are concerned about sharing deeply personal things and what the ramifications of that may be. We honour and respect this need for privacy and confidentiality and hold it in the upmost regard.

There are some times when confidentiality may need to be broken, such as if there is an imminent risk of harm to yourself or someone else, but these limits will be discussed with you in your first session and you will be given the opportunity to clarify any concerns you may have.

Please also be aware that if you are referred through Medicare, every psychologist must abide by certain reporting requirements. This normally means updating your referring practitioner with a brief letter after a certain number of sessions.

CAN I BOOK IN TO SEE STEPHANIE IF I AM A PREVIOUS CLIENT WHO HAS SEEN HER IN ANOTHER SETTING?

Absolutely! Every client has the right to choose their treating psychologist, and Stephanie welcomes the chance to continue working with those who may have developed a prior therapeutic relationship in another setting. If you have come across this website and would like to reconnect with Stephanie, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
